Geraldine Joaquim

Sleep specialist and Wellness Coach

Hi, I’m Geraldine, a clinical Hypnotherapist and accredited Wellbeing Coach… and sleep is my specialty! Ahh sleep… that blissful state that we all want, we need more of, but sadly most of us simply don’t get enough of it. And sleep is the foundation on which the other pillars rest – that’s nutrition, movement and relaxation. When your sleep goes awry, it’s likely that you’ll struggle to make good food choices, you probably won’t feel much like exercising, be able to enjoy activities or being with your loved ones, not to mention the impact on your ability to work effectively, problem-solve, creativity, decision-making skills…
So, that’s what I help with: get your sleep right and everything else works better!
And a little about me, how I got to this point in my life…

I spent over 20 years working in international marketing which effectively meant I spent more time than I care to remember going through airports, sitting on planes, and hanging around hotels across the world, and at the same time raising a young family. It’s not an unusual story – I was high functioning but stressed out, flirting with burnout. In 2016, at the age of 46, I trained as a solution focused hypnotherapist, more to satisfy my own need for something else than any ideas of changing career path… but it changed my life. I began to understand myself better, developed strategies that helped me cope better and, funnily enough, I started sleeping better. It was a turning point in my life, so much so that in 2018 I set up full time as a clinical hypnotherapist and psychotherapist, focused on helping people with stress management and working with companies to bring wellness and mental health training into the workplace.

It was around that time that I started getting my first menopausal symptoms, hot flushes particularly in the evening and overnight, like someone had turned a radiator on inside me… whoosh, intense heat completely engulfing me! It would come for a few weeks then disappear for a few weeks. Then the pandemic hit, and that year that kept giving also handed me a diagnosis of breast cancer…
I am now cancer-free and on oestrogen-blocking medication, which means no HRT for me and a ramping up of those menopausal symptoms – more hot flushes, nightly sleep disturbance, lots of electric shocks (who knew that was an official menopause symptom!). But I am lucky. I have some tricks and tools that help me manage, it won’t make them disappear, but I can certainly cope better – and that’s what I can help you with, not just sleep (although that’s a key factor) but also lifestyle choices, movement and mindset.
