Qualified Therapeutic Counsellor
For the majority of my working life I have been a passionate advocate for women. Initially as a nurse, working in gynaecology, then as a midwife and finally as a qualified Therapeutic Counsellor, culminating in me setting up my own business in 2017 – By Your Side Counselling & Supervision. Recently I completed the Confidence in the Menopause Education Programme by Newson Health Research and Education with Fourteen Fish.
Being a peri–menopausal woman with a family, I understand the frustrations faced by many. The feelings of being alone with my fears and anxieties, not truly understanding what was happening to my body, whilst having to juggle all aspects of family and working life, and not wanting to burden anyone with my stuff.
I wish I had known back then that there were counsellors like me out there who could have supported me when I started on my journey.
My role isn’t to fix you, because you’re not broken.
I am here to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to explore any concerns or issues, they don’t have to be related to the menopause, however this time in our lives can bring other issues to light, which we have hidden away.
My message to you is that you don’t have to get through this on your own. I’m here to be by your side, providing support and empowering you to become the best version of yourself.
Check out my website for more information on how to book your sessions.
Whilst being a perimenopausal woman myself, I graduated from Leeds Beckett University having gained a first in my dissertation titled “What are the Experiences of Women Living with Menopausal Symptoms in the Workplace?”
Life doesn’t have to end when your periods do!
